Why I’m Leaving Cambridge for Victoria, BC.

Published on April 8, 2013 by in TheBlog

So the news is out there.  I’ve tweeted.  I’ve spoke in person.  And now, the inevitable blog post. It’s still true. it hasn’t changed.  I’m moving to Victoria, British Colombia.  To most, if not all, this came as a bit of a shock.  And really, it should have been nothing short of it.  Not even

Another life ends.

Published on October 13, 2012 by in TheBlog

About vacations

Published on January 8, 2012 by in TheBlog

Yes, I know you need one.  I need one, too.  Desperately.  Especially when the staycation that just completed ended up being nothing short of terrible.  Sure, others may have worse situations, but this isn’t about them.  This is about me and my dissatisfaction. The common conversation this week at the office was about vacation destinations,

One of the things I hated about living in China

Published on October 17, 2011 by in China, TheBlog

I often speak very well of my time in China.  By and large, I really liked living there, although it certainly wasn’t Disneyland.  One of things that really disturbed me though, was the unwillingness of the locals to help each other in emergency situations.  The Sichuan Earthquake aside, Chinese helping Chinese for the sake of

Worth talking about.

Published on September 11, 2011 by in TheBlog

I arrived in Progresso, Mexico in the Yucatan Peninsula on a late September day in 2002.  I’d spent a week there and met some interesting people.  As part of an assignment for my TESOL practicum, I had to write something about the experiences I had during this once in a lifetime kind of experience.  I was blogging

I may or may not have been lurking you.

China isn’t particularly known for their protection of intellectual property. You can stop laughing now. Now that you’ve collected yourself, I would like to direct your attention to a company called Tencent.  They are the developers of an instant messaging client called QQ.  I’m only speculating here, but I believe it got its name from

Further down the Autumn Checklist

中秋节快乐! (Zhōngqiū jié kuàilè, Happy Mid-Autumn Moon Festival) Hot on the heals of questioning my own Canadianness, I now wish everyone a Happy Moon Festival (how à propos), which as Wikipedia states is: a popular harvest festival celebrated by Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese people, dating back over 3,000 years to moon worship in China’s
