A Steam-y Purchase

Half Life 2

Hooray for Steam!

So Valve’s Steam released Half-Life 2 (plus eps 1 and 2) for the Mac today.  The HL2 having an introductory $6.99 price tag, I really couldn’t refuse.  This makes Half-Life my first official Steam purchase!  The process itself was pretty seemless, with varying options to pay for your purchases, this could almost be considered too easy.  I think I’ve already mentioned this before, but Valve releasing Steam for the Mac was a pretty bold move on their part.  I can only suspect that they believe that the increasing number of Mac users makes for a worth while market to target, and thus can only mean good things for this user.

In case you’re interested, here’s a link to my Steam Profile!

Something quick that I wish to get off my chest.  Consider this an open statement:
To all Canadians who, only a few month ago, were bitching and griping that it was too cold and couldn’t wait for summer.  You got what you wanted.  It’s pretty much officially here.  Us such, you forfeit any rights to complain about the heat and temperatures out there. SUCK IT UP ALREADY!
I, for one, have been enjoying the weather.  For the first time in many years, I don’t have a programmers tan!  Not even the beginning of June and I already have tan lines on my feet, arms, neck, and face.  How bizarro is that?  I’d say plenty bizarro, with a hint of WTF!  I know!  I do think that I’ve become a creature of warmer climates.  So far I’ve done nothing but bask in this hot hint of what may be a scorching summer.  Awesome!
Earlier this afternoon I had the majority of my windows open here at home.  What I couldn’t help chuckle over was the permeating hum of multitudes of central cooling and air conditioning units.  They sung in their 60hz unison.  While we do have an A/C unit, I haven’t bothered using it yet.  I don’t feel the need.  Fans are good enough.  Besides, only using fans allows me to take somewhat of a moral high ground when it comes to energy usage.
I half expect brown-outs tonight.
